I just HAD to comment on the Spa deal. First off, I got tired reading about your running career. I get tired DRIVING that far let alone trying to run any distance, other than to keep the cat from ralphing in the living room. I used to go to "the Spa at River's Edge", in oh so uppity Dublin, Ohio, home of the Muirfield Golf Tournament. Now I usually would roll in there on my chopper, and of course there's NOT a car in the lot UNDER 75 thousand dollars, so right off the bat, the cameras are watching me. I met a massage therapist that worked there, got her card, and started to "see her" there. Now I ALWAYS did the one hour massage, thus maximizing my time with her. First off, you walk in, and are greeted by the most flawless 21 year olds that money can buy. They ask can they get you some coffee, tea, bottled water, or probably anything else if you asked. I always declined, as I'd just go into the waiting room and look at 75 dollar tubes of lipstick. Lauren, my girl would come get me, and lead me down a hallway, past other rooms, and into "our" room. VERY dark, like, too dark, complete with a man-made waterfall in the room, and some crappy Yanni-esque music, ya know, wind, pan flutes, Irish running through the grass crap music. I always told her to turn it off or let me bring in a Slayer cd, as that's the only way I could relax. She'd tell me to "dis-robe" while she waited outside, I'd get naked, put on a towel and lay down literally in a bed. Not a massage table, this was a bed, but like 4 feet off the ground. She'd come back in, and cause me the greatest pain of my life, but it felt good. She had hot rocks that she would grind into my back, I could feel golf ball sized knots in my back slowly losing their size, painful, yet again, it felt good. Now let's talk about oil. Now this isn't 30 weight you put in your moped, this is some exotic crap that smells like a good hash bar in Amsterdam. You could probably get the same feeling from the "birth control" aisle with some KY "tingle" or "warm to the touch", but for what I was paying, I'm sure it had some kind of healing qualities. Her hands would slide up and down my back like me on figure skates, and I could have layed there all day, but then again, I still had a motorcycle to ride home. That pretty much chewed up my hour, she would leave the room for me to get dressed, and then come back in with a bottle of water, as it was "very important" to hydrate after a massage of this nature. So yeah, that's my SPA story. I haven't been back there in a long time, I felt like for what I was paying, I might as well be at the massage place by the airport and get a little more "service" towards the end of the session. Have a good rest of the week, hope this comment wasn't too long. Just had to add my two cents.
